About RTYD

ROCK-TIL-YOU-DROP (RTYD) is a network of websites dedicated to creating a community of older musicians and bands active at a local level, around the world. It aims to help raise the profile of older musicians and publicise their music and gigs, as well as, inspire those who feel out-of-the-loop to get back into making and performing music.

Rock music is generally considered 'youth music'. For this reason, if you play it, the older you get the more difficult it is to be heard - even if you are, or were once, famous. The musicians associated with RTYD, myself included, aren't famous. Maybe, one or two of us have had a taste of success in our time, but most of us have families now, and careers that take priority over our music-making. By day, we work; and by night - when we can - we rock. And we all share the intention to keep on rocking as long as is physically possible.

Faced with less free-time and dwindling peer-group support, us older musicians need to share ideas and opportunites. Sometimes we need each other for advice or encouragement. When I concieved of the network, one of my aims was to prove there was a lot of original and exciting music being made by older musicians and their bands at a local level, and to promote it. In the last three or four years I have been lucky enough to see and hear a lot of it.
