How to create a page for your band on this site

If you have joined as an individual, and you are also in a band, you have two options:

a) start a GROUP/PAGE for your band like this

This option means you only need to sign in once to contribute as a musician and on behalf of your band.

You can also:

  • Invite fans to join your band's group, and you can then message them about gigs and music releases.
  • Add an RSS feed to your Twitter page, or other activity feeds.
  • Add text about the band.
  • Add links.
  • Add gig flyers or images.
  • Paste the code for a music player (ReverbNation or Soundcloud offer these type of players)
  • Start discussions with your group.

b) sign up again using your band's email address, and create a new member's page for your band, like this

This option means you have to sign in either to contribute as a musician, or on behalf of your band.

The advantages of this option are:

  • You can add apps to your page.
  • You can have a Music Player with your band's music on it (see the User Tip on Music Player)
  • You have a slide show of photos and images.
  • You can change the appearance of the page, and depending on how much CSS you know, you can also change the page header etc.
  • You can connect this page to your Facebook or Twitter account (and vice-versa if you use Ping.FM or Seesmic) and anything you post here will also show on these status feeds.
  • You can keep a blog.
  • You can start discussions that the whole network can respond to.

Like a) you can also

  • Make friends, who you can then message about gigs and music releases.
  • Add an RSS feed to your Twitter page, or other activity feeds.
  • Add text about the band.
  • Add links.
  • Add gig flyers or images.
  • Paste the code for a music player (ReverbNation or Soundcloud offer these type of players) You can keep a blog.

You could also do both, and see which works best for you. You can always close one of the pages if it is redundant.

Cheers, Toby.
