I've been looking for a rock/metal drummer for the past few weeks, and I'm begining to think that they're all dead! When I was playing in the 80's, There were loads of bands playing rock/metal in the Shrewsbury/Telford area. It was a very health scene with a lot of competition, and a great deal of comeraderie(I don't know how to spell it either!). But now, well. I know a lot of the guitarist from that time, as I do the bass players and singers. Some are still with us some aren't (R.I.P. Snowey). But the drummers seemed to have dropped off the map.
We (that's me on bass, and Steph the lady-type lead singer), are trying to get an 'Old Skool' type metal covers band to gether. Covering such bands as Dio, Judas Priest, UFO, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, and genarally good quality heavy rock. We've got one guitarist, and we're looking to add a second sometime. But finding a bloody drummer?!
I've put ads on all the websites (including this one), and in all our local music shops. And I'm putting it on here, because you might know someone, or it could be you and don't read the 'musicians wanted ads!
Please get in touch, and lets start this ball rolling!
I've just been sharing your sentiments about finding muso's, especially experienced ones regardless of what they play.
Bass players doing 60s covers is like looking for chicken teeth.
I'm 64 and a drummer trying to put together a 60s band, including instrumentals from The Shadows.
It does appear that the best places to advertise are the big cities, or seaside resorts ( or is it just me?).
Good Luck with your search amongst the many sites...Bill
