Now I know we all have impeccable taste in classic rock, punk and blues, but what about that LP, song or band that you are less likely to mention amongst your favourites?

My guilty pleasures include some - and I stress some - Supertramp, ELO, Yes, 10cc, (Vegas) Elvis, It Bites and Marillion,

I am also partial to some early to mid-80s pop, including Soft Cell, Simple Minds and Duran Duran among others.

I confess, too, to almost always enjoying Mandy by Barry Manilow, Breaking Free from High School Musical, Beautiful by Christine Aguilera, Patience by Take That, Please Don't Go by KC & The Sunshine Band and Everyday Hurts by Sad Cafe....

There. That wasn't so bad. Now you try.

I quite like anything by the Barry Gray Orchestra
Abba! Now there's a band. I was working in South Dublin, and after the one or two Guinnesses at the end of the day we would pop to the chippy and play Abba songs continuously on the juke box while waiting for the carbos.

M People - great voice, great beat.

And then at the other end of the spectrum Rammstein, Breaking Benjamin. And somewhere in another dimension - King Crimson.
Rammstein. I love Rammstein.

And early Tom Jones. It's Not Unusual. Delilah. What's New Pussycat. Purrfection.

And 'Hurt'. Johnny Cash version. Makes me cry. Every time. Every single bloody time.
I agree with Hurt, it does the same thing with me. Strangely so does Problem Child by AC/DC, dunno why but there I was a few years ago at Milton Keynes Bowl surrounded by the faithful thousands and without any warning a tear slid down my cheek, nurse!!

I still enjoy Bridge Over Troubled Waters (the whole album), I grew up with it and every now and again it hits the spot.

Lynyrd Skynyrd ends up on the ipod more often than you'd imagine. So does old ZZ Top.

That bloody Duffy song with the plucked double bass sample in it, I can't stand her voice but the sound of that sample? Love it!!

I've got more Miles Davis CDs than any man really needs and have more than a passing interest in Calypso
Carpenters - including those dreadful fuzz guitar solos! Guilty as charged!
I was going to fess up to the Carpenters but Mike got there first. So, my chosen guilty pleasure is Al Stewart and the gorgeously melodic guitar work of Tim Renwick.
Sorry about that Paul - at least you can still hold your head high!

oh yes. Had a Tom Jones half hour on Sunday. Fanastic voice and still with us in pretty much original form.

Neil Diamond. Again, it's the voice.

I'm not at all guilty about my love of the vocal works of David Coverdale (most of them, i.e. before the voice packed in).

I love Britney's "Circus"... nah, actually that's not true but I do like Tatu's version of "How Soon is Now" and their own "All The Things She Said".

I also love Soft Cell and Duran Duran and my admiration for Alice Cooper doesn't stop after Welcome To My Nightmare but carries on to include Dada and even Butal Planet.

Oh yes, and guiltiest of all... I prefer Courtney to Kurt and Hole to Nirvana (although of course I love both.

I don't even feel guilty about loving Rammstein (although I prefer Laibach and DAF) or Johnny Cash.

I'm with you on Soft Cell. Thanks, Alcuin, T.

I think The Spice Girls had fantastic pop songs! They can't do any wrong in my book.
"I'm giving you e-very thang, all that lurve can brang..." etc.
You get the general idea.
